At Harrell & Harrell, we believe that being an active part of our community means more than just providing exceptional legal services. It’s about supporting local causes that make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. That’s why we’re proud to once again participate in this year’s Freed to Run, taking place on November 23 and 24, an event we’ve been involved with since 2020.
Freed to Run is a unique endurance challenge that brings together runners, cyclists, sponsors, and supporters, all working toward one common goal—helping to fund Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) and their critical work providing free legal services to those who need it most.
About Freed to Run
Founded by local attorney Mike Freed, Freed to Run is an annual event that raises money to ensure access to justice for the underserved members of our community. Since its inception, the event has raised millions of dollars, all of which go directly toward supporting civil legal aid programs through JALA. This year, Freed to Run is expanding with a 35-mile bicycle ride in addition to the traditional running challenge, allowing more people to get involved and contribute. Participants, whether they are running or cycling, know that they’re making a real difference.
After successfully funding one initiative, Freed to Run is excited to launch a new effort: Shelter for Elders. This program focuses on safeguarding and improving civil legal aid services for low-income seniors. It addresses critical housing-related issues, including reverse mortgage foreclosure, door-to-door scams, and other legal matters that significantly affect our seniors’ ability to remain in their homes throughout Northeast Florida.
Renee Harrell’s Involvement
We are especially proud of Harrell & Harrell’s partner & Vice President, Renee Daigle Harrell, for her dedication to supporting Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Inc. for decades. As a former president and current member of the Board of Directors of the JALA Foundation, Renee is a strong advocate for the vital services that JALA provides in our community. Her commitment to ensuring access to justice exemplifies the values we hold at Harrell & Harrell.
Harrell & Harrell’s Continued Commitment
Each year, our team comes together for this inspiring event, joining forces with others across the city to raise awareness and much-needed funds for JALA. We’ve seen firsthand how JALA’s work can transform lives. From helping families stay in their homes to offering protection to victims of domestic violence, their efforts are vital to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the legal representation they deserve.
Making a Difference, One Step at a Time
Freed to Run is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a community-wide effort to promote justice and provide opportunities to those who may not otherwise have access. At Harrell & Harrell, we’re proud to stand alongside JALA in their mission and to contribute to a brighter, more just future for our city.
Whether you’re a runner, a cyclist, or someone who simply wants to support a great cause, we encourage you to get involved in this year’s Freed to Run challenge. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
